Advertising expenditure declines by 8% in the 1st half of 05 compared with 04.

TV adspend went down the sharpest, decreasing by 18%. The entertainment sector reported a sharp decline of TV adspend from S$78.5m to S$60.8m.

Non-traditional advertising such as poster and cinema advertising reported steady increase especially with beer and consumer electronic brands.

"Shooting Stars" shot to the sky on Ch 5, securing ratings of 22.9% (HHI$10K+), 14.4% (P15+) and 17.2% (PMEB PI$5K+). Looks like the Singapore Idol fever lives on.

The debut of Full Circle on Ch 5 also garnered impressive ratings of 8.5% (P15+) & 7.2% (PMEB PI$3K+).

Innovative media opportunities spring up once again.

From Aug 05, Focus Media has launched 96 LCD TV monitors in office & commercial buildings airing TVCs. The monitors are located in Tanjong Pagar, Robinson Road/Shenton Way, Raffles Place, City Hall/Marina Bay and Orchard Road.

In October 05, Octagon Moren launches the Aquarium Media in Suntec City and soon after, Tampines Mall. Afterwhich, they have plans to expand to other malls.

100 wholly painted taxi and taxi tops are going for S$48,800 for 4 months. Promotion ends 31 October.

Channel 8 scores again with "Portrait of Home", a 60-episode local drama. It is currently the highest rated 7pm
drama* on Channel 8.

In the last episode of Part 1, a record 1.2 million** (P4+) viewers tuned in. It is also the highest rated episode for the drama series with P15+ ratings of 24.7%.
 
Part 2 will come on in October, promising more conflict and drama.

MediaCorp has awarded TNS the new Television Audience Measurement (TAM) contract. The contract begins on 1 January 2006 and will last for 5 years.

The new service will comprise a PeopleMeter panel of 750 households representative of the population of Singapore.

Viewing information will be retrieved overnight and audience figures for the previous day's viewing will be available the following morning via InfoSysTV.
