
For the 3rd consecutive year, IHT boasts of increased worldwide circulation growth. This growth is driven by investment in global business and news coverage. It is also the best selling international newspaper in Asia.
IHT saw increased sales in Europe, particularly in Italy, Holland, Poland and Spain. It also performed well in Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. (Average daily sales increased by 5%)
In the last year, the IHT had expanded its print network from 28 to 32 sites. New operations were started in Cairo ,Turkey, Moscow and Israel. IHT is also looking to open print operations in Dhaka and Dubai this year.
IHT had also included increased pagination and color capacity to cover the addition of high-profile columnists and new correspondents worldwide. The paper also launched 'Marketplace', a 4 page section on companies and markets news produced in association with Bloomberg.
At this time when other publications are downsizing and closing their Asian editions. IHT is making a bold step to cash in onto this opportunity to take the lead. Its strategy of investing in new local markets combined with stronger editorial content is proving that print is still very much alive.
