Vlogs on the Rise

Blogging & podcasts are increasingly widespread. Vlogging (Video Blogging) / Video podcasting is catching on. It started out by literally enabling bloggers' voices to be heard. Now, it is evolving into creative channels within a channel.

A new breed of serialized, episodic vlogs and video podcasts are drawing loyal followings worldwide. They are scripted, serialized and varied - ranging from drama episodes, commentaries, analysis etc.

Vlogging brings citizen journalism to a new level. At this stage, Vlogging is still considered an experimental medium to many marketers. However, when its popularity increases, advertisers can tap on embedded video and online PR beyond the conventional advertising vehicles.

Personalised Search on Google

From February onwards, personalization tools will be turned on by default for all new users with a Google account, and personalization options will be auto-enabled for existing users.

Search results will be ranked based on the user’s past search behaviour. Google is now also tying ad rankings to user behaviour after they click on a link in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP).

These moves reflect how Google is increasingly centering relevance around the user experience. This will cause Search Marketers to redefine the algorithm they had been relying on in the past.
